The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has released its fresh seasonal forecast for the next three months, predicting a high probability of warmer-than-average temperatures across the whole country through July, August, and September.
Eastern and Southern Norway are expected to have relatively dry weather and a 70 percent probability of warmer-than-normal temperatures, which will offer residents many sunny days this summer.
On the other hand, the next three months are expected to be relatively rainy in Northern Norway, with a 60 percent chance of a wetter season than usual.
Still, people in Norway are used to making the most of the outdoors, rain or shine. Even when it rains, they will happily dive into their lakes and fjords.
The outlook for Western Norway and Trøndelag is less certain.
While the whole country is likely to have a warmer season, State Meteorologist Emili Carin Rønning told NRK that “Seasonal forecasts apply for a long period, and you do not get to see the differences in topographical and local variations”.
Experts explained that climate change and global warming are the main reasons for the higher-than-normal summer temperatures across the country.
