Red Party MP explains Easter outburst
Mímir Kristjánsson, an MP for the far-left Red Party told NRK on Tuesday about the violent threats he made on Facebook while drunk on an Easter holiday in Spain. Kristjánsson threatened to beat up a man in his 60s, claiming to have "friends in the Hells Angels" who would help him, causing the man to file a police complaint against the Red politician.
"I just flipped," he told the NRK interviewer, repeating his regrets and underlining that he does not in fact know anyone in the Hells Angels. "I am very sorry that I scared him in any way, simply put. And to some extent that I have let down everyone else who believes in me too."
Hells Angels president Per Høyland, meanwhile, told the Stavanger Aftenblad newspaper that the idea that Kristjánsson had connections to the biker gang was funny. "We laugh at it more than anything else," he said.
Night closures and reduced speed on Drammen bridge
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has announced that the Drammen Bridge will be partially closed at night for six weeks while a worn-out joint is replaced.
The E18 motorway over the bridge will be closed between 9.30pm and 5.30am for traffic travelling between Drammen and Oslo, with traffic redirected over the Øvre Sund bridge and through the Bragernes tunnel.
"We expect some congestion on local roads at the start of the evening period, but during the night the traffic volume is so low that the detour will work well," construction manager Ola Natvig said in a press release.
During the day, the maximum speed over the bridge in the Oslo direction will be reduced to 50 km per hour.
