Constitution Day, 17 May 2026
Oslo becomes a sea of flags, bunads (traditional colourful dresses), school parades and parties. For newcomers and longtime locals, it’s a day for cultural immersion. It starts early with a breakfast celebration with champagne and pies covered with strawberries, blueberries and cream. In the city center, over 100 school children march (tog) down the main street, Karl Johan gate, and end in front of the royal palace. The day continues with fancy lunches and parties all night.
