A red danger warning for avalanches has been issued for Indre Troms in northern Norway. It will be very easy to trigger dangerous landslides in many places, according to Varsom.

“Keep a good distance from all avalanche terrain,” the warning service Varsom noted on its website.

During the night between Friday and Saturday, a lot of precipitation was reported in the region - especially in Tamokdalen.

“It will be very easy for a skier to trigger large avalanches, and remote triggering is likely even over a long distance,” the warning noted.

There may be up to 15 centimetres of snow in western parts of the region - which will increase the load on weak layers in the snow cover and increase the risk of avalanches.
