Norwegian PM and Foreign Minister listed as Nigerian officials in Twitter mix-up
The Twitter accounts for Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were incorrectly listed as Nigerian government accounts on Tuesday.
Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister has asked Twitter to correct an issue which incorrectly displays them as Nigerian government officials.
“Dear Twitter support, despite how much we like our wonderful bilateral relations and close alphabetical vicinity with Nigeria, we would much appreciate it if you could mark us as Norway,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs account tweeted.
Dear @TwitterSupport, as much as we enjoy our excellent bilateral relations and close alphabetical vicinity with Nigeria, we would much appreciate if you could label us as Norway😉

The eagle-eyed admin or social media manager in charge of the account also pointed out that the profiles of PM Jonas Gahr Støre and Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt were also mislabelled.

Emma Svarva Giskås, a political adviser from the Prime Minister’s office, told the newspaper VG that the PM was aware of the error and had contacted the social media site to try and fix the issue.
The newspaper reached out to the owner of the social media company, Elon Musk, with cheek tweet asking whether he was willing to comment on the issue.
Hi @elonmusk - any comments on this? https://t.co/gpn9fl1ZJH

Many social media users saw the funny side of the gaffe, while others remarked that it was perhaps a side effect of Musk’s tumultuous start to life as the owner of Twitter.
