The airline announced the decision on Friday in a press statement.

“Based on travel advice from the relevant state and health authorities, Norwegian has decided to cancel its three weekly flights between Oslo and Milan,” the airline stated.

“We are in the process of reaching out to affected customers who have booked a ticket to Milan with Norwegian and offering options for rebooking or refund.”

“We are  also waiving the change fee for customers who booked flights to or from other destinations in Italy on or before 6 March 2020 with a travel date before or on 19 March 2020."

"Customers can get in touch with our Customer Care team to change to a new departure date (same destination) up to and including 18 May 2020.”

Norway's Foreign Ministry warns that people should avoid travel to four of the northernmost regions of Italy worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak: Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.

Norwegian is the latest Scandinavian airline to cancel flights to northern Italy amid the crisis, after SAS on Tuesday suspended flights on routes to northern Italy following updated travel advice from Denmark and Norway.

All SAS flights to and from Milan, Bologna, Turin and Venice will be suspended from March 4th until March 16th, the airline said.

Passengers planning to travel to Italy with Norwegian can contact the airline for further information here.
