Twenty-one people were injured, four of them seriously, when two Oslo city buses collided on Monday morning.

Police believe the accident may have been caused by one of the buses veering into the wrong lane in a tight turn in Lindeberg in north Oslo.

Witnesses said road conditions were icy when the buses crashed head-on shortly after 10am.

“A lot of people were injured and trapped inside the buses,” said police officer Tor Jakhelln.

“One of the drivers had to be cut out by fire services, and ambulance personnel at the scene had to treat four people who were seriously injured,” he told news agency NTB.
