Missing English footballer found dead

An English footballer who played for a Norwegian second division side was found dead on Tuesday.

Thomas Andrew Morgan went missing after a night out on Sunday and was found on Tuesday evening in the Hunnselva river i Gjøvik, just north of Oslo.

The 23-year-old midfielder played for SK Gjøvik-Lyn.

The club annnounced their shock at the news of Morgan's death on their official website on Wednesday, reported NTB. Morgan was not only "a great football player, but also an exceptionally good man. We'll miss your warm smile and everything you were for us," the website read.

Morgan signed for Gjøvik-Lyn on Januray 1st of this year, after a three-year spell with another Norwegian club, Valdres FK.

The cause of death was not known and Oslo police have stated there is nothing indicating anything suspicious behind the death, according to Oppland Arbeiderblad.
