Fjord town reeks of faeces after septic spill

The picturesque fjord-side university town of Volda was doused in faeces on Monday night when a lorry carrying the contents of dozens of septic tanks accidentally dropped its load on the road just outside town.
Cars entering the town then dragged the stinking refuse all over its streets. "I've been looking at social media and many people are complaining that it smells like shit all over large parts of the town," Audun Asphjell, a local journalism student told the VG newspaper. "We saw toilet paper and faeces everywhere on the road. It was more like a sewer than the E39." Volde, just south of Alesund in western Norway, is well known for its university college, which specialises in training teachers and journalists, it beautiful location, and its strong cultural heritage.
