The boy was rushed to Helgeland Hospital in Rana on March 2nd after a family acquaintance rang in an emergency call, local newspaper Rana Blad reports

After the boy’s death the hospital contacted the police to alert them of their suspicions that the injuries may have been inflicted on the victim deliberately.

His parents have been charged with causing the bodily harm, leading to the boy's death.

Police were reluctant to release any details about their suspicions but said both parents had denied involvement in their son’s death.

The couple also have other children who have now been put in the care of social services, Rana Blad reported.
