Woman locked dog in bathroom until it died

A woman in Norway has been sentenced to a 21-day suspended sentence for locking her dog in a bathroom and leaving it there until it died.
The district court in the town of Kongsvinger, north of Oslo, ruled that the dog had been left locked up for several days without water, food or fresh air, Norway's NRK broadcaster reported. A vet from Norway's Food Safety Authority told the court that the animal probably survived for less than a week before it died of thirst. The 37-year-old woman was given a suspended sentence because of problems she was facing in her personal life at the time the dog was left in September 2009, her lawyer, Jan Erik Myrvold, said.
