Gates lobbies new Norway PM for aid

Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates visited Norway on Friday to lobby new Prime Minister Erna Solberg to continue the country's heavy contributions to his aid foundation.
"We hope that development remains a priority for voters and politicians in Norway," Gates told Norway's DN business newspaper ahead of his visit. "I was very familiar with [former PM] Jens Stoltenberg. He has been wonderful to work with. We want to have a very strong partnership with whoever controls Norway." Over the last 12 years, Norway has given a billion kroner a year ($160m) on average to programmes run by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with 1.4 billion donated this in 2013. Gates also arranged to meet Norway's finance minister, Siv Jensen, and the former prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg.
