VIDEO: Elk mount pitch invasion
Elk invades the pitch at Hegra stadium, near Trondheim
09:50 CET+01:00
A wayward elk calf ran headlong onto the pitch at a football stadium outside Trondheim on Saturday, with its mother in hot pursuit.
The mother leapt easily over the fence at the other side of the field, but it was too high for the calf, which unsuccessfully attempted to run straight through the boundary fence several times, only escaping when locals showed it to one of the exits.
"Hunters have been complaining about the small number of elk this year," said Knut Børseth, who shot the video. "They did not know that the animals have got interested in sport and moved here to the stadium."
Thankfully, there was no match going on when the pitch invasion took place.
