Norway has banned pet puppies and kittens from The Netherlands from entering the country after it reported two rare rabies cases.
"The Netherlands has lost its status as a rabies-free country," the country's Food Safety Authority has ruled. "To prevent any infection in Norway, it is now prohibited to import unvaccinated puppies and kittens under 3 months old."

Two puppies from Bulgaria, imported into The Netherlands on 5 October, were diagnosed with rabies and then killed on 18 October.

Netherlands has lost its status as rabies free country, and to prevent any infection to Norway, it is now prohibited to import unvaccinated puppies and kittens under 3 months from the Netherlands.

Norway in July recorded its first suspected human case of rabies in 200 years.
