Two killed in Kragerø ferry collision
A man and a woman were killed late on Friday night when their small motorboat collided with a ferry in Kragerø, the resort that serves as Oslo's summer getaway.
The bodies of the couple, who were both in their 30s, were found 29 metres below water by police divers using a remote-controlled submarine. A 33-year-old man who was also involved in the accident is being treated for serious head injuries at Ullevål hospital in Oslo and remains in a critical condition. The couple came originally from nearby, and were back on a visit from Oslo, where they lived and worked. The emergency services said they had helped 40 people in connection with the the tragedy, including the friends and family of those involved. "It makes people stop and think about how fragile life is," said Kåre Preben Hegland, the town's mayor, told NRK. "How short a distance there is between holiday idyll and tragedy and nightmare."
