Five bus passengers and the driver were injured near Drammen on Thursday after the bus veered off the road, ending up on an outcrop on the Svelvikveien road southwest of Oslo.

"We have confiscated the driver's driving licence and taken a blood test. We don't have an concrete suspicion that he was intoxicated, but we are working to exclude possible reasons," police spokesman Arild Ølberg told the NTB news agency.

"When a vehicle goes off the road, something's up."

The police at present do now know why the 64-year-old driver veered off the road. He has been taken to hospital and will be questioned later on. Five of the eight passengers received minor injuries.
