A one-time scooter rider in south-eastern Norway got a major surprise on Wednesday morning when he was reunited with his old motorcycle 19 years after it was stolen.

Police in Southern Buskerud contacted the man after colleagues in Oslo found an abandoned scooter in a parking garage on Tuesday night.

A quick check in the stolen goods register showed that the 1989 model Suzuki 50 had been reported missing in 1993 by a Buskerud resident.

“He seemed quite surprised,” police officer Håkon Grøttland told news agency NTB.

“He had forgotten the whole thing.”
