Coach Egil “Drillo” Olsen knows his players need to bounce back quickly from Friday’s shock defeat to Iceland if Norway are to have any chance of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

On Tuesday the national team faces Slovenia in Oslo knowing that anything less than three points could see Norwegian hopes evaporate for the seventh successive qualifying campaign.

“It’s true that we have made it to any finals for a long time, but we’re probably the one country in Europe that has been closest on a regular basis,” said Olsen.

“There are eight games left after this one, but everybody understands that it looks bad for us if we lose.”
