Bieber fever grips Oslo

Hundreds of girls thronged outside Oslo’s Grand Hotel on Tuesday afternoon as they awaited the arrival in the city of Canadian teen superstar Justin Bieber.

In town to promote his latest album, Believe, Bieber is also set to play a free concert on Wednesday afternoon.

Thousands of mostly teenage girls are expected to fill the streets outside the Østbanehallen, where several media outlets have reported that the show will be held between 4pm and 6pm.

Police sent a number of units to Karl Johans gate to keep the crowds under control outside the Grand Hotel as hundreds of girls and a handful of boys sought to catch a glimpse of their idol.

The crowds were seemingly undeterred by an announcement from the police that the 18-year-old singer would not in fact be staying at the swanky city centre hotel.
