IMO, the description his mother gave was close to that of a psychopathic child. I know 'attachment theories' are still prevalent in Scandinavia making it always parents' fault if a child goes astray. However, these theories are outdated in the light of new evidence. It has been proven beyond doubt that psychopathic children exist and in fact, their lack of bond with parents is likely to be a result of psychopathy rather than the other way round. In Breivik's case the description seems to match what Robert Hare writes about in relation to antisocial children. But psychopathy is not psychosis and a psychopath is not an insane person.
