Whether he’s shooting himself underwater or setting himself on fire, YouTube viewers can’t seem to get enough of Norwegian physicist Andreas Wahl.

As part of the NRK science programme ‘Med livet som innsats’ (Life on the Line) physicist Andreas Wahl puts himself in dangerous situations to prove the power of science.

In a clip that went viral this week, Wahl shot a AG3 assault rifle at himself under water to prove the density of water molecules.

Wahl mounted the rifle on a tripod at the bottom of a swimming pool and positioned himself just a few metres away.

Using a firing mechanism, Wahl shoots the rifle at himself but the water resistance slows the bullet down and it lands on the pool bottom long before reaching him.

A clip of the experiment has racked up over three million clips on YouTube since being uploaded on Sunday.

The underwater shooting stunt is just one of many that Wahl undertakes as part of the series.

In another popular clip, the physicist drops himself from a height of 14 metres attached to a loose rope with a weight on the other end. As Wahl plunges, the weight tightens itself around a pole and stops him before he hits the ground. The clip has over two million YouTube views.

A third clip shows Wahl doing a ‘human BBQ’ experiment in which he sprays himself with water before sliding through a raging fire. That clip only has around 100,000 views but frankly we think it deserves more.
