Breivik's defence lawyer Tord made the announcement as memorial services take place across Norway.

Jordet told Radio Norge: "Breivik has now become very clear on that he doesn't support the use of violence and that he doesn't encourage others to perform violent actions."

Tuesday is the third anniversary marking Anders Behring Breivik's terror massacre in Oslo and Utøya.

Breivik is currently serving a life sentence in Skien prison where he is held in isolation.

Jordet also commented on what he claimed were the unfair conditions of Breivik's captivity. He said: "I guess no one imagined a situation where Breivik would be kept isolated over such a long time, or that extensive restrictions, such as sending letters, would be placed on him."
