Oslo and Gothenburg plan direct rail link
Sweden and Norway have agreed to start planning a direct train connection between the Norwegian capital and Sweden's second-biggest city.
Norwegian and Swedish government officials will begin discussing how to open a modern railway link between the two countries on the Oslo-Gothenburg stretch.
Both Scandinavian countries share a vision of a fast connection between the cities. The agreement was made in a meeting last week between the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications. The ministers noted a "great potential" in shifting goods traffic from roads to rail.
