The attack took place in the early hours of Friday morning, around 1.30am.

A gang of four masked men armed with guns, forced themselves inside Hogdal Bygdegård farm and robbed the poker team, according to Fredriksstad Blad.

Around 15 persons took part in the card game. Most of them were Norwegians, Swedish police confirmed.

According to Aftonbladet, the poker players were forced down onto the floor by the robbers.

Head of police investigation in Strömstad, Tore Lomgård, told Swedish newspaper Bohusläningen: “It is quite obvious that the criminals knew the poker game was playing for money and they planned to rob it.”

Norwegian police and border controls were contacted soon after the robbery was reported. Nobody has been arrested in connection to the robbery yet.

Playing poker with money is forbidden in Norway, but allowed in private parties in Sweden.

The Norwegian government has proposed allowing poker games in private parties where there is a maximum pot up to 5,000 kroner ($800).
